What is Recycling?
From Recycling Depot
The three R’s of recycling are reuse, recycle, and reduce. The three Rs outline the principals of lower energy consumption. Recycling processes old and used materials into new products. Recycling generally prevents the waste of very useful materials, reduces the consumption of raw materials, and reduces energy usage, and hence greenhouse gas emissions are lower and helping slow down global warming.
Recycling includes the separation and collection of materials for processing and remanufacturing into new products, and the use of the products to complete the cycle. Much of the glass, paper, aluminum, and steel that are used for packaging today are already recycled. In addition, steel is a material that can be recycled repeatedly.
Recycling also reduces energy consumption. For example, it requires less energy to make a new glass bottle from a recycled glass bottle because recycled glass melts at a lower temperature than the raw materials.
